Quick and tasty ham and cheese roll ups with a crispy buttery exterior and gooey cheese inside, perfect for snacks or appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 medium flour tortillas
  • 68 slices deli ham (smoky preferred)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (sharp cheddar and mozzarella blend)
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Optional dipping sauce: honey mustard, marinara, ranch, or spicy mayo

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine shredded sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheese with garlic powder and freshly ground black pepper. Toss lightly to mix.
  2. Place a tortilla flat on a clean surface. Lay 1-2 slices of deli ham evenly on top, leaving about 1/2 inch border.
  3. Sprinkle approximately 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture evenly over the ham.
  4. Starting at one edge, roll the tortilla tightly into a cylinder, pinching the edge to seal if needed.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until melted and foamy.
  6. Place the roll ups seam side down in the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden and crisp, then gently roll to brown all sides evenly.
  7. Add remaining butter and cook remaining roll ups in batches, about 6-8 minutes total per roll, maintaining medium heat.
  8. Drain roll ups on paper towels if desired and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Use medium heat to avoid burning tortillas before cheese melts. Warm tortillas briefly if stiff to prevent cracking. Freshly shredded cheese melts better than pre-shredded. Roll seam side down first to seal and prevent unraveling. Butter browns better than oil for crispiness. Can bake at 400°F for 10-12 minutes as a lighter alternative.
