These no-bake, kid-friendly Rice Krispie treats are decorated with red, white, and blue sprinkles and a white chocolate drizzle, making them the perfect patriotic dessert for 4th of July celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10 oz mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white melting wafers
  • ¼ cup red sprinkles
  • ¼ cup blue sprinkles
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for thinning white chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the long sides. Lightly grease the parchment with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt 6 tablespoons unsalted butter over medium-low heat, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the entire 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows to the melted butter. Stir constantly until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth, about 4-5 minutes. Do not let the mixture bubble or brown.
  4. Remove the pan from heat. Immediately stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and ¼ teaspoon salt until well combined.
  5. Add 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal to the pot. Fold gently until every piece of cereal is coated with the marshmallow mixture, about 1 minute.
  6. Scrape the mixture into the prepared pan. Using a greased spatula or greased hands, press it into an even layer. Press firmly into the corners.
  7. Let the treats cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes (or 15 minutes in the fridge).
  8. While the treats cool, place 1 cup white melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth. If too thick, stir in 1 teaspoon coconut oil.
  9. Once cool, lift the treats out of the pan using the parchment overhang. Place on a cutting board. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the top in a zigzag pattern using a fork or small spoon.
  10. While the chocolate is still wet, generously sprinkle red and blue sprinkles over the top. Press them in gently.
  11. Let the white chocolate set completely, about 30 minutes at room temperature or 10 minutes in the fridge.
  12. Use a sharp knife to cut into squares or rectangles. Wipe the knife clean between cuts for neat edges.

Notes

For best texture, use mini marshmallows and melt just until smooth—do not overcook. Grease your hands or spatula well to prevent sticking when pressing the mixture into the pan. These treats are best served the day they are made. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days. Do not refrigerate.
