These creamy 4th of July truffles are a quick, easy, and festive treat perfect for patriotic celebrations. Made with cream cheese and white chocolate, they offer a luscious texture and vibrant red, white, and blue colors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 12 oz (340 g) white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes until soft but not melted.
  2. In a large bowl, whip the cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the whipped cream cheese and beat until fully combined and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Gently melt the white chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl in 20-second bursts, stirring each time until smooth.
  5. Slowly pour the melted white chocolate into the cream cheese mixture while mixing on low speed to keep the filling smooth and creamy.
  6. Divide the filling into three bowls. Add red gel coloring to one, blue gel coloring to another, and leave one plain white. Stir each gently until the desired shade is reached.
  7. Cover each bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour until firm enough to scoop.
  8. Form balls from each colored mixture using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and chill for 30 minutes to set.
  9. Melt about 8 oz (225 g) white chocolate for coating. Stir in small amounts of red and blue gel food coloring to create separate colored coating bowls.
  10. Dip each truffle into the colored coating using a fork or toothpick, letting excess drip off. Place back on parchment and decorate with sprinkles or edible glitter while coating is still wet.
  11. Chill the coated truffles in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving to firm up properly.

Notes

Use gel food coloring to maintain vibrant colors without thinning the chocolate. Chill the filling thoroughly before scooping and dipping to avoid mess. Rewarm chocolate gently if it thickens. For dairy-free, substitute vegan cream cheese and dairy-free white chocolate chips.
